Measures will last at least another month.
Canada’s Public Safety Minister Bill Blair announced late last week that their border with the U.S. will remain closed to non-essential travel for another month. The restriction was put in place at the onset of COVID-19 in early March, and has been renewed monthly since then. The announcement came a day after Mexico made a similar announcement with regards to its U.S. border.
Healthcare professionals, airline crews, truck drivers, and other essential workers that require access across both borders are still allowed through. Returning citizens to either country are also allowed to cross the border to return to their country of citizenship.
Acting Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Chad Wolf said, “We continue to work with our Canadian and Mexican partners to slow the spread of #COVID19. Accordingly, we have agreed to extend the limitation of non-essential travel at our shared land ports of entry through September 21.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For U.S. health and safety experts as they consider ways to help our countries recover.
- That the U.S. relationship with neighboring North American countries would remain strong throughout this pandemic.
- For President Trump as he manages the international relationships between the United States and the world.
